Eligibility: This course is open to Y1 & Y2 teachers and English assessment subject leaders from any infant or primary school.
All Y1pupils who are able to access the phonics screening check will need to complete the check in June 2026. Any Y2 pupils who didn’t pass the screening check in Y1 will also need to complete the 2025 phonics screening check in June 2026.
The purpose of this single, online, twilight briefing is to outline the phonics screening check process for Y1 or Y2 teachers who may be unfamiliar with this. It will provide an overview of the national guidance from STA on how to carry out this check as well as support teachers and other adults who will be administering the check by sharing and discussing the DfE phonics screening check training video.
