Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire Council employees only.
At certain times, many individuals find it challenging to communicate honestly, directly, and openly with others. This course is designed to help you understand various ways of relating to people, identify assertive, passive, and aggressive communication styles, and enhance your ability to communicate positively with others. Assertiveness involves being clear about your feelings, needs, and how they can be achieved. It enables you to engage respectfully with others while also respecting your own needs, ensuring you do not feel taken advantage of by setting appropriate professional and personal boundaries.
In this course, we will explore the rights and responsibilities in communication, different communication styles, the motivation and intent behind communication, and the impact of assertive versus non-assertive behaviour. This course offers you the opportunity to reflect on how you relate to others and make changes to communicate clearly and assertively.
