• Course overview

    Eligibility: This course is open to everyone from any organisation working with children and families in South Gloucestershire.

    This 1 hour Bitesize ROTH session is essential for all multi-agency partners working across South Gloucestershire. You will gain an understanding of the term extra-familial harm and an awareness of different types of ROTH that children can experience. The session will cover South Gloucestershire’s agreed response to children vulnerable to or experiencing ROTH and emphasises the importance of mindful language use in this context. There is lots of useful information and resources shared.

     Learning outcomes

    As a result of this course, you will:

    • Understand the term extra-familial harm.
    • Be aware of the different types of ROTH as defined by Working Together to Safeguarding Children 2026.
    • Understand the agreed response to children vulnerable to or experiencing ROTH in South Gloucestershire.
    • Recognise the importance of appropriate use of language.
    • Be signposted to relevant information and resources.
