    Eligibility: This course is open to Occupational Therapy staff only.

    This practical course equips you with the expertise to manage posture effectively, preventing secondary complications. You will develop solutions to enhance comfort, function, and participation for individuals. The course includes hands-on practice, where you will engage in postural assessments. Please bring a pillow and mat and avoid wearing skirts to ensure full participation. You will also be expected to complete an assessment between the two training dates, so planning ahead is essential.

    Throughout the 1.5-day course, you will refresh your knowledge of basic anatomy and biomechanics related to posture, identify secondary complications resulting from poor posture, and learn a structured approach to hands-on posture assessment. You will have the opportunity to assess the posture of a peer and develop a framework for postural analysis and management. The course also covers equipment selection, including considerations and rationale, and reviews of armchair and shower chair seating. Finally, you will apply your knowledge through clinical scenarios.
