• Course overview

Eligibility: This course is open to managers from any organisation.

We know that managers can dread difficult conversations if they worry about saying the wrong thing or about the situation getting worse if the conversation is uncomfortable. Not everyone is comfortable having those uncomfortable conversations and so this training can help you approach conversations with tools and techniques to get better outcomes for everyone involved.

We will help you to understand the causes of and issues surrounding difficult conversations and how to prepare to help you manage them effectively. You will explore different communication styles and reflect on how you can adapt your approach to different people and situations.

Focus during the day is given to the emotions that may be experienced and how to deal with them and we’ll look at the range of support available to you as a manager. You’ll leave the day with an action plan for your own difficult conversations and feel more equipped to have them.

The content is focused on maintaining good levels of performance but can be used to support other conversations such as those when managing change, wellbeing and culture change within teams.
