Eligibility: This course is open to foster carers

The aim of the WAYPOINT Support Group is to provide a reflective, welcoming and open space where foster carers can discuss their experiences in relation to the topic of the day. Each session will give carers time to pause, reflect and learn from one another in a supportive environment. There will also be a strong focus on sharing practical strategies, exploring therapeutic approaches to difficult situations, recognising progress and celebrating successes.

Each WAYPOINT Support Group will run from 9:30am to 11:30am. The venue and day of the week will vary across the programme, helping as many foster carers as possible to access the sessions. Full details for each date, including the location and selected topic, will be shared in advance so carers can choose the sessions most useful to them.

Previously, the group was run as a drop-in session, with the discussion topic decided on the day according to issues raised by those attending. This time, each session will have a planned topic, giving carers a clearer idea of what will be covered and time to think about it beforehand. The format will remain flexible, with opportunities to share relevant experiences, ask questions and consider practical ideas.
