• Course overview

Eligibility: This course is open to foster carers.

This informal support group provides a safe and welcoming space for foster carers to come together and explore the themes of safe sharing, peer support, and confidentiality. Through open discussion and shared experiences, participants will have the opportunity to reflect on how they can support one another while maintaining appropriate boundaries and respecting the privacy of children, families, and fellow carers.

A key feature of the session is the use of the "Why, Who, How" model, developed by carers and staff to help guide conversations around sharing information. This simple framework encourages participants to consider:

Why am I sharing this information?
Who needs to know or hear it?
How can I share it safely, respectfully, and appropriately?
The model provides a practical way of exploring real-life situations and helps create a shared understanding of safe and supportive communication within the fostering community.

This session is designed to ensure that all voices are heard and valued. Participants will be encouraged to contribute their thoughts, experiences, and ideas in a supportive environment where learning comes from both professional guidance and peer-to-peer discussion.
