Eligibility: This e-module is for South Gloucestershire Council staff only.

Trauma results from an event, series of events, or set of circumstances that is experienced by an individual as harmful or life threatening. While unique to the individual, generally the experience of trauma can cause lasting adverse effects, limiting the ability to function and achieve mental, physical, social, emotional or spiritual well-being.Trauma-informed approaches have become increasingly adopted in practice as a means for reducing the negative impact of trauma and build on evidence developed over several decades.

This e-module will help practitioners recognise the signs, symptoms and widespread impact of trauma and aims to improve the accessibility and quality of services by creating culturally sensitive, safe services that people trust and want to use. Whilst designed for health and social care staff in mind, this e-module is also relevant to any council employee to gain understanding of one of the key policies in how we work with people as a council.

It will take between 45 minutes and one hour to complete. Some pages within this e-module will require scrolling, especially on smaller wide-screen displays, such as on notebook computers.
