    Eligibility: This course is open to social workers on the ASYE programme only.

    This course for newly qualified social workers (NQSWs) focuses on understanding and strengthening practice for Children and Young people who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) and disabilities. This interactive and informative course is suitable for both newly qualified social workers who work within Children and Adult services. Facilitated by Kirstie Harper, the Designated Social Care officer for SEN in the Strategic Safeguarding Team, this course will provide an overview of Special Educational Needs and disabilities, relevant legislation and policies which underpins your practice and aims to increase your knowledge and understanding of Education, Health and Care plans (EHCP’s) and annual reviews. Through discussions and activities, you will gain a greater awareness and understanding of the needs of children with SEN and disabilities, be clearer about the way in which we should be working to achieve the best possible outcomes for all children with SEN, and how to use information within assessment and plans.
