Eligibility: This course is open to everyone

This workshop explores the importance of play for children and young people, with a particular focus on those who have experienced trauma, loss, separation or disrupted attachment. We will consider how playful approaches can help children feel safe, strengthen connections with their carers and provide opportunities to express emotions that may be difficult to put into words.

Through practical activities, discussion and reflection, carers will explore how play can support emotional regulation, reduce stress and bring moments of enjoyment and connection into everyday family life. The session will provide practical ideas for incorporating playfulness into therapeutic parenting, including approaches that can be adapted for different ages and developmental needs, from younger children through to teenagers.

The aim is to help carers feel confident using play and playfulness to nurture relationships, encourage connection and support children’s emotional wellbeing.
