• Course overview

Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire Council social care managers and seniors.

This workshop is open exclusively to South Gloucestershire Council senior staff and managers in social care who have already completed the Race Awareness Managers course. Building on the earlier session, this managers’ workshop will finalise and sense check the Managers’ Allyship Scale, bringing together the ideas and contributions shared so far.

This workshop begins the process of turning the draft scale into a final practical framework that managers can apply, and one that South Gloucestershire Council can build into future leadership expectations. During the Manager Race Aware sessions, managers and senior leaders began co creating a practical 1–5 Allyship Scale, exploring what allyship looks like in action through everyday behaviours, skills, knowledge and confidence. This next workshop takes that work further. Together, we’ll refine and strengthen the scale so it becomes a useful, practical tool that supports managers in Adults and Childrens Social Care to embed allyship into everyday leadership, including PDPRs, supervision and management practice. Your voice really matters. As managers and seniors who have already helped shape this work, your insight, challenge and experience will play a key role in making sure the scale is realistic, relevant and applicable in practice.
